Personal

Finally, which scientific discoveries would you like to see take place this century?
Personally, I’d like to know the cause of diabetes mellitus, as that’s the focus of my own work and I’m intensely curious about what happens. In addition, I’d like to know how to predict the 3-dimensional structure of a protein simply from its gene sequence, and understand how genes and the environment regulate human behaviour. But I suspect that many of the most exciting discoveries this century will be things that we can’t even imagine now.
